SAHPRA is evaluating 12 applications for generic versions of semaglutide following the expiry of Novo Nordisk’s local patent in March, after Sun Pharmaceutical became the first to win approval. More approvals are expected to widen access to cheaper diabetes and weight-loss treatment.
